About Dubuque County Criminal History

Dubuque County criminal records are divided among several custodians. Local reports and checks go through the joint Police and Sheriff Records Division in the county seat of Dubuque. Court cases belong to the Iowa District Court and appear through Iowa Courts Online. State criminal-history checks come from the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Investigation, while custody and supervision records come from the Iowa Department of Corrections. The Iowa Sex Offender Registry is separate again. This site brings those official routes together so readers can identify the right portal, counter, address, or phone number.

Why We Built This Site

Iowa provides several public routes to justice records, but each route answers a different question. The joint Police and Sheriff Records Division handles Dubuque Police and Dubuque County Sheriff reports, county-only local checks, and fingerprint appointments. The jail and P2C portal supply local booking and custody information. Filed charges, court events, dispositions, and sentences are kept by the Clerk of District Court and indexed through Iowa Courts Online. The Division of Criminal Investigation maintains Iowa's fingerprint-supported criminal-history repository, the Iowa Department of Corrections covers state custody and supervision, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry serves a distinct public-safety purpose. The site organizes official contacts, access steps, fees, and limits around those real divisions.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. It has no affiliation with Dubuque County, the City of Dubuque, any Iowa court, law-enforcement agency, or state office. That independence creates firm limits:

  • We cannot issue certified court files, criminal-history records, reports, or registry records
  • We cannot submit a chapter 22 request or an expungement filing for a reader
  • We cannot perform an official Iowa criminal-history check
  • We cannot advise anyone about a charge, warrant, disposition, or chapter 901C remedy
  • We cannot promise that an agency's hours, address, fee, or procedure has not changed

An official record must come from its custodian, such as the joint Records Division, Clerk of District Court, Iowa DCI, Iowa Department of Corrections, or Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Search Partners

Search boxes on some pages are operated by outside providers. Each provider controls its own results, fees, and service terms. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral payment that supports the site's operation. We do not set a partner's price, decide which records it displays, or guarantee the accuracy or scope of its results.
